Happy Arbor Day!

Today we went to a local park for an Arbor Day celebration, the weather was perfect for strolling the park!  There were all kinds of "tree art" displayed, including the awesome rainbow trees from ArtsFest as well as paintings, sculptures, and leaf collages.

They had a "tree adoption" center...we adopted two trees (a sawtooth oak and a black gum).  They are probably about as big as Atticus!

There were all kinds of booths set up with anything and everything related to plants, it was really quite a site to see!

At the conclusion of the festival they had a tree planting ceremony where they planted a beautiful tree in the middle of the park.

After that we headed out to find the Green Cart Deli...a new favorite in our book, especially in Aaron's.

The GCD features award winning Sabrett frankfurters, Sierra Nevada mustards, and wickles...

Want to know what a wickle is?  A wickedly good pickle!  The owner is from Boston if that tells you anything.  So the idea behind GCD is pretty cool...their motto is "keeping tummies full and landfills empty!"

Everything they use to serve their good eats, from the straws and take out bags, are renewable, recyclable or biodegradable, and even compostable! 

So, I've never really been a huge hotdog fan, but these are pretty awesome!  He posts on his facebook each day where in town he is going to be set up and every time we've gone by he has had a long line of customers - people are loving this concept!!

Aaron and his "El Toro"...topped with spanish onion, cheddar cheese, chili, pale ale spicy mustard and wickles!  Atticus decided to stick with turkey and cheese for now...but it won't be long and he'll be biting into one of these!!

When we got we all took a nap and then we had our own tree planting ceremony and plated our two new baby trees in the backyard.
