It was Homecoming weekend at Furman! Although we're not alumni, we do love that we can take advantage of all the campus wide activities available for current and past Furman families.
Friday night we went to the campus carnival and had a blast riding rides, eating funnel cakes and staying warm by the bonfire! Atticus spent most of his time on the inflatables...the slide was his favorite! I had hoped he would ride the ferris wheel with me, but no such luck...maybe next year :)
Each year there is a different Homecoming theme. This year it was DISNEY!!!!
Atticus got to meet Anna from Frozen and Snow White :)
The different groups on campus make floats that go along with the theme. They don't actually do a parade...the floats are stationary and everyone walks around the campus to see them. Our favorite was the UP float...so very cool! (Have you seen that movie?? Watch it with a box of tissues!)
Atticus also got this super cool street sign made with his name on it!!!!!!! We'll be hanging it over the door in his room. How fun is that?
Where there is a bonfire there must be s'mores nearby....and we found them! We also indulged in hot pretzels, caramel apples, hot chocolate and apple cider!!! Can you say sugar rush!
How these two convinced me to get me on the tea cups I'll never know, but somehow I ended up on this ride and thank the good Lord above, I survived.... Watch this!
On Saturday our day began with a Punt, Kick, Pass contest for the kids of the Paladin Club. Atticus had a blast being on the field with the football players. He and Aaron got a few throws in before the event started!! (Aaron is the one in the head to toe purple track suit) Ha! ;-)
Atticus did a great job in all the events, but he said his favorite was punting the ball. Simply, drop and kick! The football players did a fabulous job with the kids!!!
Pass the ball! In this event they had to throw the ball into several different barrels - each barrel was a certain point value. Atticus WON this event with most points for his age group!
Aaron taught him how to line up his fingers on the laces to get a better grip on the ball. Look at the spiral on that ball!!!
Look closely...the ball went through the target 4 out of 5 times he threw the ball!
Sir Paladin was there to cheer on the kids during the contest! And after all that football playin' it was time for a snack! We snagged a PHI house cookie from the Philosophy Department tailgate....YUM!

Atticus was the honorary co-captain of the football team. This meant he got to do the official coin toss at mid-field before the game started!!! The head ref came over to introduce himself and shake Atticus' hand before they walked onto the field.

He was SO proud of himself and even got a commemorative coin to keep for himself!
