This weekend we visited a Living History Farm. It was like stepping back in time! Here we are standing in front of the one-room school house that was build in the 1700s.
When we went inside the school house Atticus grabbed a seat up front and listed to the story.
It really was a beautiful setting!
My favorite stop was the herb garden...they showed us all the herbs they used for medicinal remedies and the ones they cooked with and offered a recipe for thieves vinegar.
They also gave us a variety of onions and garlic to take home and plant
in our own garden! We will definitely be adding these to our crop this
year!
Atticus got to work the well and pull up the water...
Next was brick making....one of the many jobs that kids as young as Atticus would have on the farm. Here, Atticus and Aaron prepare and level the dirt.

This was one of the small cabins on site...
We got to watch the horses plow the field to get the ground ready for planting!
There was also a blacksmith, woodworkers, water color painters, candy taffy makers, sheep herding, and more!!!
It was a great day to see what life was like in the 1800s (I'm thankful for modern technology!!!)
