Christmas with Poppa & Nana!!!

My parents, Poppa and Nana, came for an early Christmas visit this weekend, it was wonderful to have them here.  We haven't seen them in a few months!!  We had so much fun during the few days they were here.  Here are a few of the highlights!

Atticus and Nana took a train ride together..so much fun!   I don't think Atticus will ever get tired of riding in trains - he "choo-chooed" the whole ride long!

We went to our local Christmas Parade in our small downtown.  It was really nice out, cold, but sunny!  We met a few of our friends there as well, so all the kids had fun catching the candy that was being thrown from the floats as well as dancing around and singing Jingle Bells!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Dad.  He is so special to me!

It wasn't too crowded so we were able to sit right on the curb and watch all the dancers, bands, floats, and the Grinch zoom by!
Nana and Atticus took a break and picked berries.  He loves his Nana!
Daddy and Atticus "marching" alongside the drums in the parade!  One of Atticus' favorite shows is Caillou.  There is an episode where Caillou is in a marching band - when Atticus watches it he immediately starts marching and playing his drum :)  So, needless to say, he was in heaven for these 5 minutes!
All the floats were throwing candy - you would have thought it was Halloween!  Poppa and Atticus came back with an arm full of loot after every float went by!  You can never have too much candy...or can you?!?  The answer is YES, yes, there is such a thing as too much candy!!!
One of the floats was passing out American flags...look at our little patriot!
We went to a Christmas cantata at the church we've been visiting...it was great. Phil Stacy (fellow Lee University graduate and American Idol finalist) was a special musical guest as part of the service.  It was really nice to see a big musical again - a lot of churches don't do them anymore.
The Furman faculty Christmas party was also this weekend.  It worked out great that my parents were here, they stayed with Atticus and Aaron and I were able to enjoy a night out.

When we got home from the party I kicked off my heels and look who picked them up!!!  He thought he was too cool for school in my high heels... I think the picture is hilarious - not sure if it's the fact that he's wearing them or the fact that you can see the little monster faces on his footie pj's peeking out :)

Atticus got to open his Christmas presents from Nana and Poppa while they were here.  Imagine his surprise when he walked up stairs to see this awesome art easel waiting for him under (next to) the tree??
One side is a magnetic dry erase board.  He loved all the letters and numbers that came with it!!  Since I'm not ready for him to use real dry erase markers, we found him dry erase crayons!!  They are the coolest thing ever and are easy enough for him to wipe off.  The other side is a chalk board.  He is already a pro at drawing and erasing.  There is a clip to add paper to so he can use his watercolors on it as well.  He also got a super chic art apron to go with it!

Merry Christmas Nana and Poppa!!  We love you and are so thankful for you!!
