Christmas with Nana & Poppa

We made so many wonderful memories while my parents were here celebrating Christmas with us.  It was a blessing to have them here - Atticus LOVED waking up on Christmas morning and having his Nana and Poppa here!!  We did all sorts of fun things together - here are some of my favorite pictures from the week!!!

Aaron and Dad putting together a new chest of drawers for the upstairs guest bedroom...now you'll have a place to put your things when you come to visit :)

Now let the real fun begin....I think Atticus opened presents everyday my parents were here leading up to Christmas!!!  He was so excited that he decided to  make his own confetti and have a party!
We went to the historic Grove Park Inn in Asheville one day....it was a bit of a drive but Nana came prepared with the perfect car game!!!  Let's draw!
Grove Park Inn is pretty spectacular any day of the week but at Christmas time it's even better!

After the Grove Park Inn we found my new favorite local Asheville eatery....Home Grown.  It was delicious, we'll definitely be back!
After Ashville we took Atticus to see the Disney movie FROZEN...fun was had by all...and such a great movie, we all loved it!
Christmas Adam...you know, the day before Christmas Eve....get it?  Adam came before Eve!
My precious precious boy!  I love this kid!
Getting ready to open the scavenger hunt of presents that Aaron got me....I ended up opening three different boxes that each included an envelope with instructions to open the next box....until I got to the lat one which had our reservation inside for dinner together on Christmas Eve!!!!  Well done, Aaron, I was completely surprised!
Love him!!  Blessed to have him by my side!
Atticus opening his stocking....lots of cool things!
 PEZ!!!!
Check out his new shirt!!!!  Nana couldn't have said it better herself :)
 How sweet!
Getting ready to head out on our Christmas Eve dinner date at High Cotton.  We've often talked about going to this amazing restaurant but have never actually been....it was lovely!
My hot date!
Atticus got to hang out with Nana and Poppa while we went to dinner and then we met back up with them for the lights at Roper Mountain....it was COLD so we didn't stay long, but it was beautiful!

We warmed our tootsies by the fire when we got home then went straight to the important task of making cookies for Santa...
Aaron worked hard at making the cookies...and Atticus worked even harder at decorating and tasting!  They were a good team :)
Time to leave cookies and our letter for Santa and carrots for the reindeer....we said goodbye to Buddy the Elf since we wouldn't see him again until next year.

Atticus and Poppa played Christmas games and read Christmas stories on the iPad before bed...
Atticus told us he wanted to sleep under the tree to wait for Santa....cute, but not a chance!
Then.....he gave himself the giggles before bedtime...it was pretty funny.
I mean honestly, how sweet is this little face??
 Ok...time for bed!
Our farm fresh Frazier fir after Santa came to visit.
Atticus has been eying this present since the time Nana and Poppa walked in the door with it....so naturally it was the first one he wanted to open...the coolest multi-marshmallow roaster!!! We had a bonfire that night, of course!
Oh man....he made me take a picture of this toy with my cell phone 6 weeks ago when we saw it in Target so that we could show Santa when we went to visit him....good thing Santa remembered!
Squibz....the coolest little suction buildy things....
Atticus picked out this birdhouse for Nana and Poppa all by himself - he was proud!
He also picked out this present for Aaron...and after we bought it he insisted we go to the grocery store and buy a potato to wrap with it...so we did.  Surprise!!!!
 More presents!
I think this was the BEST present of them all....a Peter Pan costume!!!  (Aaron put it on him and put it on backwards....but that's ok).  He LOVES Peter Pan and asked, "how did Santa know I loved Peter Pan?"

 Faith, Trush, and Pixie Dust!
It's not Christmas unless there is a living room full of wrapping paper, tissue paper and boxes!
A serious game of Whack-a-Mole is getting ready to ensue.  Round 1: Nana versus Atticus
Whack-a-Mole Round 2: Atticus verses Poppa
 Nana and her Joy Boy!
Time for some s'mores!  We used the super-cool marshmallow roaster from Nana and Poppa!  Thanks to Aaron and Atticus for building a fire in the backyard fire pit!
 My sweet Daddy!
 Baby it's cold outside!!!
This Florida guy hasn't seen his breath in the cold air in a really long time :)
Atticus got right down to business....he LOVES ooey gooey marshmallows!!!!

It was hard to say goodbye to Nana and Poppa....but we know we'll see them soon!!!  Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable Christmas.
