Hello Basketball... Goodbye Football
We had a sports-filled weekend... It was Furman's last home football game and we tailgated with friends, the weather was perfect, cool but lots of sunshine!
One of the things I've discovered over the past six weeks of transitioning to plant based eating is that "football food" was not intended for the health conscience...or the vegan! Seems like every dip, appetizer, and munchie includes some sort of meat or cheese as its primary ingredient...So I've been showing up to tailgate with my tray of fresh veggies and hummus...luckily there is always plenty left when I go back for round two :) Nobody else wants 'em!
This was also the kickoff weekend for Furman basketball!! They played a home game again Clemson and we had so much fun with friends at the game. Yes, Aaron and Atticus are sportin' their gameday face, purple and white paint and all! Sporting events are a great place for kids, they can scream and yell, dance around and no one gives you annoyed looks or thinks you're a terrible parent for your unruly child - they simply blend in, especially with college students!
On our way into the game there was a miniature bus outside of the stadium (it was made for someone to sit in and drive like a go cart - you can see the whole in the top...Atticus was ready to hop in!). This picture makes me do a double take though because he look so tall.
