Artist at work!

Today my friend Nicole and I took our boys to a local art house for kids called Creating Artists for Tomorrow.  It was seriously the coolest thing - I wish there was one for adults!   It was started by two kindergarten teachers that wanted kids to have the freedom to create and explore art without being worried about getting in trouble for making a mess or being required to stay in the lines.  

The boys had so much fun creating art at the different stations but the most exciting part was when we got to go outside and paint on ANYTHING except the cars!!   They just loved that!!!  The first station we played at was the turkey station...we made turkeys with our hand prints - very sweet, especially realizing his hands will never be this little again.

 

Next stop was the corn craft... This craft involved two things that are pretty much off limits at our house - scissors and glue!  Not having alot of practice with both of these made this station a little tricky at first, but he caught on fast and oh my goodness, he loved it! I should also mention that colored sand was also part of this activity!!  Hello mess :)

    

Speaking of sand, they had a huge washtub full of sand with all sorts of kitchen tools in it and the boys loved scooping and shoveling sand....everywhere!

Who knew painting with rollers could be so much fun?!?!  All different shapes, sizes, and colors!

 

 There was also a room dedicated to chalk...including a whole wall that was painted in chalk paint!  The boys had fun drawing and erasing over and over again!

 

Who needs Vincent and Claude when there is Isaac and Atticus???  These two kiddos are pretty talented with a paint brush :)  Easel time was great - they would go back and forth to see each others paintings and try to sneak in a paint stroke when they could!

 The final "station" was outside...and they basically had free reign of everything outside...the rocks, trees, sidewalk, exterior of the house, doors, windows....everything!

 

 

 What a great way to spend the day...we will definitely be back for more creativity!!!
